Why Use a Metal Mesh Filter?

July 18, 2022

Wire mesh filters consist of woven wire of various sizes and compositions that are used by many industries for absorption, filtration, or evaporation.

It is used for a variety of filtration applications in agriculture, industry, and also for home filtration purposes. The wire mesh is woven in both twill and plain forms and the final product is rated according to the size of particles it retains, either nominal micron rating or absolute micron rating. Wire mesh filters are widely used and China wire mesh manufacturers specialize in designing various customized wire mesh filters as per customer requirements.

Industry produces wire mesh products in common shapes, sizes, and configurations, but companies can also manufacture filters to customer specifications. Used to separate air or liquids from contaminants or minute particles, wire filters must be acid, corrosion, and heat resistant.

Manufacturers make wire mesh filters using different sizes or diameters of wire. The industry measures wire gauges in inches or millimeters (mm) through the Standard Wire Gauge Number (SWG). The higher the gauge number, the finer the wire. A gauge 32 wire mesh has a diameter of 0.01 inch (0.25 mm). Thickness or diameter can extend to 1 inch (25.4 mm).

The mesh of wire mesh filters describes the number or size of the holes between the weaves. Manufacturers usually express wire mesh sizes in inches, millimeters, and microns. Mesh with large openings, ranging in size from 0.25 inches (6.35 mm, 25,400 microns) to 1 inch (25.4 mm, 6,350 microns), are numbered to indicate the size of the openings.

Finer wire mesh is numbered from 3.5 to 400, indicating the number of holes per inch in addition to the size of the opening in inches, millimeters, or microns. The size of mesh required for particular jobs depends on the size of the particle that must be trapped in the filter.

4 Advantages of wire mesh filters

1. Higher Durability

Metal wire mesh filters offer higher durability for a wide range of filtration applications. Stainless steel wire mesh filters are widely used because it never reacts with the fluid, so this improves their longevity and performance. Durability means it provides the highest operation for any filtration process. In addition, you need to spend less money to replace the mesh filter more frequently.

2. Versatility

As mentioned earlier, wire mesh filters have a wide range of applications, which is a unique feature that wire mesh filters offer. They can be used at high temperatures, high pressures, and under heat. In addition, wire mesh filters are corrosion-resistant and compatible with a wide range of fluids.

3. Higher efficiency

Wire mesh filters provide higher efficiency in any operation. Higher efficiency ensures that you achieve the desired fluid filtration with the highest accuracy.

4. Easy to clean

Wire mesh filters are very easy to clean and maintain compared to other materials, which improves the sanitary performance of the filter. This also ensures that the filter can be used in all sensitive applications such as the food industry. Wire mesh filters are easy to clean and provide aesthetic appeal for all your filtration applications.
